This addition to an existing four-storey Victorian semi-detached house encloses an extensive ground floor internal remodelling, connecting the existing ground floor living spaces to a generous 45 metre rear garden.
Conceived as a multifunctional yet cohesive series of spaces, the extension creates an important new focal point for home. The lowering of the existing rear ground floor level has allowed for a generous floor to ceiling height within the new space and reflects the overall volume of the adjacent existing rooms.
Functional elements within the space are strategically relocated to the perimeter of room creating an open and seamless transition between living, kitchen, dining and garden space. A series of roof lights and a large window along the extension side-return aim to unify and animate the internal spaces and compliment a series of full-width glazed doors towards the rear.
